Knoxville's 5th Annual Mardi Growl Dog Parade & Festival 2012

 

Friends of Young-Williams Animal Center and the City of Knoxville are hosting the 5th annual Mardi Growl dog parade and festival Saturday, March 3, 2012 in downtown Knoxville. Every year the event draws more and more Knoxville and East Tennessee  pet parents and dog lovers. The costumes have become more elaborate and the owner/pet look-alike and dress alike contests are worth the price of admission! It is dog-gone good family fun!

 

The parade starts at 11am at the Petsafe dog park (corner of Summit Hill and Central) and ends at Market Square. The festivities continue on Market Square with the awarding of prizes for contest winners. Many pet related product and service vendors will have booths and $10 microchipping and rabies vaccinations are available.

 

Register early for only $15 per pet. Early registration ends Friday, February 10.

Your completed form and payment must be received by that date.

Day of event registration is $20 per pet and starts at 9am at the Petsafe dog park downtown (corner of Summit Hill and Central). 

All proceeds benefit the Young-Williams Animal Center.

January 9, 2012, Monday, 6:00pm - 8:00pm: SMALL PETS 101

University of Tennessee Vet School, Room A118

The University of Tennessee Veterinary School along with Oxbow Animal Health are presenting an informational seminar, Small Pets 101, for existing and potential pocket pet owners about the rewards of being a small pet parent and ensuring a positive pet experience for the family.

Featured presenters: Dr. Cheryl Greenacre, veterinarian and professor at University of Tennessee and Dr. Micah Kohles, veterinarian and Director of Technical Services at Oxbow Animal Health. Peggy Barron with Knoxville Guinea Pig Rescue will be on hand to answer questions about small pet adoptions.  Information will be provided on the care, nutrition and signs of illness in small pocket pets.

The event will include activities for children and door prizes.
